This 4th of July, celebrate the best moments
Independence Day is on its way, and we all know that many events and celebrations that would take place around the U.S., have been canceled caused by CoronavÃrus Pandemic. Still, the tradition still is to gather family and friend together and cook an impressive barbecue with a huge variety of dishes. Probably it will get even stronger this year, since most part of big events won’t happen.
But it doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to celebrate, right? Exactly, this year the celebration will be different, but not necessarily bad. Try new things, such as games with your friends or family that live with you. This could be an awesome form to spend the day, also experiment a dancing challenge to cheer up the group. Video games are also a good idea.
Then how to celebrate this special day remotely, or in person to?
Family and friends are the most important thing in our lives, and we know this situation with Covid-19 is delicate, but technology is here to help us. They can get us closer to the ones we love the most, even distant. So here are tips to still enjoy the moment with them:
1- Keep tradition alive!
Decoration is totally advised, a good tip is to engage kids to help on this task, they are at home bored to the bones, right? That way you all enjoy a good time with family and keep 4th of July tradition spirit alive! Stimulate the ones on the other side of the screen to do the same, that way everyone will get in Independence’s mood.
Why don’t you also try some traditions from specific parts of the nation? It could liven up the party. A few days ago, we made a post with examples of different traditions such as San Francisco Mime Troupe, a theatrical group of mimes that perform every 4th of July at San Francisco. You can get inspired by them and play a mime game with the whole family, it will be very funny.
Or, maybe, you can get inspired by Murrells Inlet boats parade too and built small boats with materials you have at home and then put them to float on a vessel. It’s only a matter to let your creativity flow and enjoy some fun activities with family.
2- Choose a good playlist
The right playlist can put everyone to dance and get excited! Turn on your speakers and call the neighbor too to party with you, each one in their home, but still enjoying the same music. Also don’t forget to party with the people that live with you.
Choose a playlist with some variety of music, so everybody will feel pleased. A good start is to put 80’s songs that everybody knows, this way you sing all together the lyrics and dance too. Then choose some pop songs from 2000’s or recent ones, make them shake their skeleton! After you all have eaten, it’s a good idea to put some country music or a calmful one so you can talk and enjoy a cool time together.
3- Cook a very nice barbecue!
Tasty food is essential in every event, at 4th of July couldn’t be different. Cook a great barbecue to the whole family, also try new kinds hot dog. Share those with your friends and family on the other side as well, therefore, they are going to enjoy the same way as you. To encourage you, here is a recipe of a tasty slow-cooker Louisiana Rib:
Ingredients:
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning
2 teaspoon of kosher salt
1 teaspoon of dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
2 lb. baby back ribs, trimmed and cut into 4 to 5 pieces
1 cup of barbecue sauce, divided
1/2 cup of water.
Instructions:
In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, cajun seasoning, salt, oregano, and onion powder. Pat ribs dry with a paper towel then rub spice mixture onto ribs. Brush about 1/2 cup barbecue sauce onto ribs and place in slow cooker. Pour water around the ribs and cook on low until tender, about 8 hours. Brush the remaining barbecue sauce on the ribs.
Once it will be a different moment, some will be with us in person, others thru a phone or computer screen, but this doesn’t mean that the love for them decreased. Actually is quite the opposite, because we love them, we need to respect World Health Organization’s recommendations and stay safe.
